Classroom Reveal!

It's never too late in the school year to post a CLASSROOM REVEAL, right??

I've had these pictures sitting on my phone forEVER and I finally have had a "free moment" (which we all know doesn't really exist) to sit down and type up a fabulous post showcasing my classroom decorations this school year.

So this is my PreK & Kindergarten room setup for the 2013-14 school year all nice and tidy before I released my students into it. It might look somewhat bare but that is because I keep things ultra simple for the first week of school and then slowly introduce new things as the kids become ready for them.

I have a Garden Theme this year and I am so lucky that my good friend Michaela over at We Heart Edu made this ADORABLE classroom set for me on her Teachers Pay Teachers store. You will see lots of my signs and calendar pieces in these pics come from her set.

So excited to finally be able to share these with you!!

Ok are we ready?

When you first walk in, my students sign-in by finding their flower with their name on it and put it in my flower bed. The fun tiered-baskets house our extra school supplies.

Here is my Circle Time Mat
The apple tree has Velcro circles on it for sticking our apple sight word on.

I post our Memory Verses on this wall
This is how I originally had my Calendar Board set up but then I changed it before school started....

I used a longer green pocket chart that matched my calendar set better and place it to the left of my board.

I added a space to on my Calendar board for our Theme Words and Apple Sight Words and I put up this cute blackboard to write our weekly Memory Verse.

Even though it was a lot of work, I am loving my double-layered borders!!

Underneath my Calendar Board I posted my Classroom Rules Poster (I made for free through!) and a holder from Ikea that houses my Class Cheers (from Dr. Jean's website)

Here is my Teacher Shelf to house all of my supplies for Circle & Calendar Time.

A few of my Garden Themed Bulletin Boards...

I re-used this brown border from last year as the "dirt!"

Last year I thought I was all organized by putting my phonics manipulatives in this set of drawers and divided them up by lessons. This year I wanted to "pretty" it up by lining the front of the drawers with card stock which also served as a color code for my lessons. Makes it really easy to find what I need without it being an eye sore!

Oh and did I mention that Michaela from We Heart Edu  made all these adorable printables for my Garden Theme?? :) :) I love it all! She is amazing!

And here's me on my first day of school!! I love all the excitement (and yes, even the craziness) of the first day! It's so cute to see these little ones on their very first experience of school!

It's hard to believe we have completed our first quarter already! Time sure does fly! Hope you are all having a great start to your school year!

A Little Makeover

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Wow! Hello again everyone!

After a whole year hiatus, I have decided to once again join the blog world. I'm excited to be writing again and have the chance to share ideas and collaborate with other teachers!

My website is currently under a much needed update so please be patient if you discover a dead end link or mistakes on my blog. Part of my deal with myself, was that if I started blogging again that I would limit my time spent on it each day. So the process of updating my blog is rather slow. Hopefully I'll have a fully functional blog before school starts! :)

Looking forward to continuing my journey with you all!

Teacher Friends

I have to say I am really blessed with so many great teacher friends! I have gained most of these from my education classes at Union College (I am already catching myself humming the school spirit song!! Love that place!!). I can hardly wait to see many of my fellow educators at the NAD Teacher's Convention in Nashville, TN next week! This convention is HUGE and it only happens every 6 years where all the Adventist educators and administration gather together for an aMAZing three days of workshops, meetings, and exhibits. I'm SO EXCITED! I also get to learn more about the new curriculum I will be teaching this school year -- Stepping Stones

One of my super great teacher friends started a wonderful Teachers Pay Teachers store and she is making an entire unit of Owl Themed Resources!! I'm so giddy with excitement! She has completed a few printables already so you should all go check out her new store ---> HERE!! Her owl stuff is so cute!

I also finally finished my Helping Hands Volunteer Form and thought I would share with you if you want a copy to use! :)
I have to remember to mention that all the fonts I used are from

Getting back in the swing of things!

Hello! For those of you who are just joining me in my journey, I am going back to teaching after 5 years of staying at home with my two kids. This fall I will be teaching Pre-K and kindergarten at a small private school. I've taught in this same classroom part-time one other year. I am nervous and excited to be in the classroom again but it is going to be so different this time around while trying to raise two children at the same time! Yikes!

This month I've been really busy getting my classroom decorated and set up. I've been focusing on decluttering and getting bulletin boards ready. I'm going with an owl theme this year and using the colors lime green, blue and brown. I just finished bordering my white boards this week and I actually took one pic before my phone died - bummer! I will be posting more pics soon now that I have all my bulletin boards ready. I tried the double border this year - a little more work but I am SO happy with the results! Ties all my colors in so nicely, can't wait to show you how the others turned out!

This is the white board I will be using for my Meeting Area and displaying my calendar, rules, number line, alphabet chart, birthdays, and weather chart. (and yes, that is my kids' DVD player and no, that is not what they do every time they are with me in the classroom. :) They mostly destroy my classroom. Ha!)

This week I have been putting the finishing touches on my custom planning template that I will use for my half-day program. I wanted to share it with anyone interested in looking! FYI: I teach only a half-day program Monday-Thursday. I will be teaching a brand-new curriculum called Stepping Stones.

Hello! I'm so glad that you are joining me in my journey through education!

I will be teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten this year part-time and am excited to get back into the teaching world after 5 wonderful years of staying at home with my two children. I have been so blessed with this opportunity and to have had that precious time at home raising my kids.

I love learning new things and sharing them with others! I hope we can support each other in our life-long learning!
